Usama Abbasi edges out Farzeen, wins Tekken 8 Tournament TAKEDOWN 2025

Usama Abbasi has defeated Muhammad “Farzeen” Farzeen at Tekken 8’s Takedown 2025, a tournament that happened in Lahore, Pakistan. Abbasi seemed unshakeable until the grand final, where Farzeen quickly defeated him in the first set and reset the bracket.

However, Abbasi seemed to have quickly found an answer and was able to fight back against Farzeen’s Lydia, ending the tournament with a 3-1 finish and bringing home the Takedown 2025 trophy.

A lot of strong Pakistani players were in attendance, including EVO France 2025 champion  Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique; however, in a stunning upset, he was sent to the loser’s bracket by a Reina player called Abid Rajpoot and then finally eliminated by a Zafina player called Shehram Tariq.

Nopparut “Book” Hempamorn, another Evo champion, was also eliminated before top eight, exiting the tournament at 17th. He was eliminated by another strong Pakistani player, Hafiz Tanveer, who also did not get into the top eight.

What’s amazing about this tournament is that in the top eight alone, most of the players were never heard of internationally. This means that this region has far more to offer, only being held back by visa issues and the lack of opportunities to be able to compete in the international stage.

Takedown 2025 is a part of the Tekken World Tour 2025, classified as a Challenger-tier tournament, which is a tier lower than Master Tier. The winner of the tournament took home $4,449 and also gained 300 points in the circuit leaderboard.
